So, your house's internet has been changed over from Rogers to Bell, and now you can't print or scan anything!
What can we do?!?!?!
Fortunately, this guide will detail what's needed!
Please perform the following:
- From the Home screen on your printer's control panel, touch either the Wireless icon (
) or the Ethernet icon (
) on the top row. If you do not see this row of icons, swipe down from the top of the screen on the printer, and they should appear.
- In this menu, tap on the "TCP/IPv4 Address" option. From here, press "Static".
- Your Bell IP Address for the printer is going to be 192.168.2.60. Press OK on the screen when done.
- Next is your Subnet Mask - this will be 255.255.255.0.
- Finally, there's the Gateway Address - this will be 192.168.2.1.
- Once this is done, back into the previous menu from Step 1, go into the DNS Settings.
This is needed for scanning.
- Tap on the "Primary DNS Server" setting. Enter the address 8.8.8.8.
- Back out of this menu, and go into the "Secondary DNS Server" setting. Enter the address 8.8.4.4.
You shouldn't need to add any addresses to the printer's address book or configure anything else from here on the printer itself. Instead, you'll need to add the printer back on your computer!
On your house's Chromebox, please perform the following:
- Click on the time displayed on the bottom-right corner of your screen. This will bring up a panel with a list of options in it. At the top-right of this panel, you'll see a little gear icon
- that's the Settings. Click on that.
- On the left-hand side of the Settings window that's now on the screen, scroll down if needed, and select Advanced. This will open a menu - you will need to press on Printers. (NOTE: depending on the version of ChromeOS your house computer is using, this may be a variation such as "Printing", "Print and Scan", etc.)
- On the right, you will see a new area that's split into two places - up top is the "Add Printer" menu, and on bottom is the "Installed Printers" menu. If you see the model of your printer is existing in that second menu, press the three vertical dots to the right of its name (⋮), and press Remove. (You may also see a list of printers that have little "buildings" to the left of their names - these are old enterprise printers that we cannot remove - you can ignore those.)
- Once we've confirmed that no printers are installed, Press the blue "Add Printer" button at the top of the screen.
- Your printer should appear in this list. If it doesn't, please ensure that you are connected to the Red network or otherwise have the printer plugged into your modem with a network cable. Once you've confirmed that the printer is on this new list, press its name to add it automatically to the computer.
- Now you should see the name of your printer in the bottom of the Printers list in Settings. You can close Settings completely if this is the case.
- Open a new Google Chrome window, and on the right-hand side near the top of the screen, press the three vertical dots (⋮), then "Print..."
- On this window, before going to print directly, click on the drop-down list near the top-right corner, named "Destination". Then press "See more..."
- Select the name of your printer which you have now re-added to the computer. Then press OK. Then on the next window, press the blue Print button.
- If all goes well, you should now be printing the results of your webpage from Google Chrome. Congratulations!
(If not, please revisit the previous steps, and if you are otherwise stuck, please contact our IT department at help@momentumsupport.ca).
And there we have it! Now your printer is back on the network, and you can print and scan once more.
